The San Antonio Business Journal, Houston Business Journal and South Texas Energy & Economic Roundtable are co-hosting an event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the discovery of a new gas field in the Eagle Ford Shale.
Petrohawk Energy Corp. made history with its announcement on Oct. 21, 2008, that it had discovered the field in La Salle County. That discovery about 90 miles south of San Antonio started the transformation of South Texas into an oil and natural gas powerhouse.
Some 10 years later, the Business Journal and its partners are hosting the “Eagle Ford Shale-A-Bration” to reflect on the importance of that discovery and how the South Texas shale play is transforming global energy markets.
The luncheon will take place at Hangar 9 at Brooks in south San Antonio on Oct. 19. A keynote speaker and panelists will be announced later. Tickets and table sponsorships are available on the Business Journal’s event website.
“For 10 years, the Eagle Ford Shale has revolutionized South Texas,” STEER President and CEO Omar Garcia said. “The positive impacts that have been made in the Eagle Ford Shale region are endless, from economic impacts to workforce development, and investment in local schools and communities. I am proud to be part of the celebration of such a significant milestone in South Texas and look forward to the continued success of the oil and gas industry in the Eagle Ford Shale.”
